Thirty years of Italian research into sustainable dyeing and denim-laundering chemistry.
Officina39 (also styled Officina+39) is an Italian chemical manufacturing company based in Biella — a town at the foothills of the Alps long associated with high-end Italian textile production. Its heritage draws on thirty years of research and chemical application in textile, inspired by Italian artisanal tradition.
The company produces a complete range of auxiliaries for the denim and garment industry, from pre-treatment through to finishing — including chemical specialities, dyestuffs and pigments used across denim laundering, textile finishing and yarn manufacturing.
Officina39 has been an early mover on sustainability, developing alternatives to Potassium Permanganate and chlorine-based bleaching — ingredients long flagged as harmful in garment finishing — through collections such as its waterless and low-water denim-ageing technologies.
Karim Group works with Officina39's application laboratory to bring these sustainable denim-washing formulations into Pakistan's garment and denim finishing sector.
Denim washing is an aesthetic finishing process that transforms rigid raw denim into soft, worn-looking garments with unique character. Chemicals used include enzymes (cellulases) for bio-stoning that replaces traditional pumice stones, bleaching agents for wash-down effects, softeners for hand feel, and neutralizers.
Modern sustainable approaches use ozone treatment, laser technology and low-water processes to reduce environmental impact while achieving vintage looks, localized fades, and special surface effects. The process improves garment comfort, shrinkage stability and wearability.
Karim Group brings advanced denim-washing formulations from Italian and global partners to Pakistan's garment finishing sector, combining performance with environmental responsibility.
